bun in the oven

Last time we wrote we told you about our potential plans for next year. What these plans did not include is the news we can now share with you that Laura is ten weeks pregnant. We've had a couple of ultrasounds already by one of the ship doctors, and we've seen a little heartbeat and things in the right places so everything seems healthy and well. Woo hoo!

As well as that, we've been doing a bit of coming and going lately, so we'll just fill you in on that... at the moment we are both on a different ship: the Logos Hope, which is one of the ships run by Operation Mobilisation (OM). Drew is serving as crew and Laura is visiting for the weekend. Two weeks ago Drew sailed out of London, down the Thames and arrived in Cork (Ireland) two days later. The ship has been in Cork for two weeks and on Tuesday 13th they will sail across the Atlantic to the St Vincent in the Caribbean. It is an exciting time for Drew doing so much sailing but also a busy time with six day work weeks.

Drew will be sailing with OM for a total of seven weeks and then meet Laura in the UK for the last week of her holiday and then it's back to the ship. At that point Laura will be 16 weeks pregnant! By maritime law you can only stay on the ship until 28 weeks pregnant so we will be leaving Africa a little earlier than expected around the 14th November. What we will do next year (apart from have a baby on the 6th of February or around then) is still uncertain, but as with all our plans they are in God's hands and we will be guided by him. We are looking towards the future with excited hearts!
